AFS Business School
The AFS Business School aims to establish itself as a highly sought after skills-enhancing experience that is only available to members of the AFS network . The business school aims to provide delegates with an opportunity to learn relevant and practical content that will make a material difference to the value of their practices.
The program focuses on business skills only. There will be no material on either planning skills or product knowledge.
AFS Business School is targeted at advisers who wish to develop or enhance their business management, leadership and communication skills.
Board Of Advice
The objective of the Board of Advice is to provide advice, not make decisions. The role of the Board is to guide and challenge the principal of the practice as the goals set out in the business plan are persued. The reponsibility for direction and decision making remains that of the principal.
Composition of the board remains at the discretion of the principal. The board is formed with representatives which may include major clients, mentors of the principal, accountants or other individuals whom the principals hold in high regard. AFS also offer the representation of a senior manager on each BOA, this includes the Managing Director of AFS Group as an option.
The BOA have proven to be a great sucess with the practices who have participated experiencing continued growth of 30%.

Industry Symposiums
AFS have successfully built and delivered Industry specific Symposiums in the following sectors:
- Life Insurance / Risk
- Agri Business
- Structured Investment Symposium
The objective of the symposium is to offer an educational training seminar which is specific to one sector of our industry.
The advantage of the symposium being sector specific is that it allows for more detailed and technical sessions, which you would not be exposed to at a general training session such as a PD Day.

Para Planning Academy
The purpose behind the creation of the AFS Para Planning Academy stemmed from comments emanating from numerous AFS practices crying out for para planners and a way to keep and develop new staff.
Ideally the profile of candidates will be:
- Client Service Officer or Admin Officer
- A couple of years experience under their belt
- Familiar with financial planning terminology
- Done the equivalent of DFS 1
- Prepared to commit to staying at the practice
- Clear desire to progress to para planner
